What is a macaroon???

It is a sweet meringue-based cookie, made with egg whites, sugar, almond flour, and filled with buttercream, jam, or chocolate ganache. The English word macaroon is derived from the French word macaron. Although macaroon sounds like a total different cookie we chose it cause lets be honest, its sounds better and easier on the tongue. The origins of the macaroon isn't clear but rumor has it that it goes back to the 16th century, when an Italian woman name Catherine de-Medici tied the knot to the king of France henry the second. she brought with her great pastry chefs along with the recipe for the macaroons. During the French revolution 2 nuns who were seeking asylum started to support themselves by baking and selling those cookies. 100 years later, a popular French patisserie name Laduree decided to fill the macaroons with chocolate ganache, where they previously had no filling, and from there macaroons made history.
